Due to Covid the club has missed its regular AGM for the last two years.
The AGM is an opportunity for the officers of the club to be changed or re-elected.

Based on the last AGM (2019) our current committee consists of the following people.

Chairman: Matt Aylifee

Secretary: Chris Eagleton

Treasurer: Tony Ambridge

Welfare officer: Paul Watson

Committee members: Nicki Wickes and Martin Thompson.

The proposal is for the following changes.

Chairman: Chris Eagleton

Secretary: Stuart Roach

Treasurer: Tony Ambridge

Welfare officer: Paul Watson

Committee members: Nicki Wickes and Martin Thompson.

Assuming there are no objections, these changes will take effect immediately and would be valid up to the next AGM in May/June next year where the normal election process would continue. The minutes from the meeting held to propose this and other matters including the latest Financial are copied below:

Devizes Badminton Club Committee Meeting 15/12/2021

  • Account for year ended March 2020 and 2021. No query’s outstanding related to these accounts. For YTD Tony reported an increase in the latest balance and the forecast YTG expenditure was reviewed:
    • Adult session will continue with 3 courts until further notice. 15 attendees are required to cover cost of booking and 1 tube of shuttles.
    • Junior session will continue with 4 courts and requires 12 attendees to cover cost of bookings
    • Other forecast expenditures were reviewed and recorded by Tony.
    • Payment was made by set up of direct debit for existing Badminton England members renewal. New members will be paid once the direct payment has been made
    • It was agreed to continue with Ticket Source as booking system but continue to review alternatives. Specifically ‘Spond’ is preferred by some other clubs and Chris will review.
    • Summary is that the forecast is for the year end March 2022 balance to have increased vs 2021

Adult membership

  • There are 19 paid members YTD. There are potentially 9 known new members who may join. Stuart and Chris will check interest to confirm.

Junior Membership

  • There are 24 paid members YTD and 2 on the waiting list.
  • It was proposed and agreed that volunteers to support coaching supervision should be requested from members to join a rota to provide support to Chris

  • Chris proposed to set up 2 chat groups, one for Adult and one for Juniors to replace the existing group chat. This was agreed
  • Chris requested to add fourth court for one hour to the club block booking to secure for his coaching activities. This was agreed.
